‘Riverdale’ Exclusive: Watch Young Hiram and Young Hermione Go on a Date

On tonight’s episode of Riverdale, you’re not just going to be spending time with Mark Consuelos’s real life son Michael Consuelos as Young Hiram Lodge. You’re also going to re-meet Young Hermione Gomez, played once again by Camila Mendes after Season 3’s turn in the classic “Midnight Club.” And with the extra focus on the two characters, yes, of course, you’re going to get to peek in on their first date… Though in predictable Riverdale fashion, things go horribly wrong, as you can see in Decider’s exclusive clip.

In the look at “Chapter Eighty-Eight: Citizen Lodge,” we see the two youngsters huddled up in a booth at Pop’s (and later on, Young Pop himself, played by Sam Darkoh). Clearly already flush with cash, the future kingpin of crime tells Hermione that she can order anything on Pop’s menu. “Hell, order it all if you want,” he says, laughing.

“Didn’t realize there was so much money in the shoeshine business,” says Hermione, at which point, Hiram — still named Jaime Luna at this point — explains that the lack of money doesn’t stop his father (played by Mark Consuelos in the episode) from “working like a dog.”

While his father shines shoes, Hermione confesses that her mother is the same, working as a housekeeper at the Five Seasons. “I wish there was a way to repay her,” Hermione says, to which Jaime smiles, and makes a confession of his own: he’s not shining shoes, he’s making deliveries for Vittorio Alto, aka Vito Alto, Riverdale’s top gangster.

Rather than deterred, Hermione seems impressed and excited, and the two kids start dreaming a future together, one that leads them to a penthouse in New York City… Something that viewers know is exactly what happened before the series even started, as well as something that led to Hiram’s eventual arrest, and Hermione heading back to Riverdale, her daughter Veronica in tow.

Before more plans can be hatched, though, the cops come in looking to arrest Jaime, and things do not end well for the two lovebirds. Or do they? You’ll have to tune in to Riverdale tonight at 8/7c on The CW to find out, and watch the full clip above.
