‘The White Lotus’ Renewed for Season 2 on HBO

Your stay at The White Lotus isn’t over quite yet. Ahead of the finale this weekend, HBO has renewed Mike White‘s hit limited series for a second installment. The next chapter of the satire will leave Hawaii behind, though, following a new group of vacationers to another White Lotus property to wreak havoc on the area.

The White Lotus, which ranks #1 among all series on HBO Max, currently follows a handful of wild tourists at The White Lotus resort in Hawaii. The story opens with a death — though we don’t know who bites the bullet until the finale — and slowly leads up to total chaos. The White Lotus currently stars Alexandra Daddario, Sydney Sweeney, Jennifer Coolidge, Jake Lacy, Steve Zahn, Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Molly Shannon, and more.

And that could all change with a new season of the series. According to HBO, a new locale will be introduced with a handful of new characters — but we don’t know if that means we have to say goodbye to all of the aforementioned folks at this time.

“Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, in a statement. “We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii, and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”

So, where will The White Lotus be jetting off to next? In an interview with TVLine, White teased that the series could journey to San Tropez, or somewhere of the like.

“I don’t think you can credibly have [all the Season 1 guests] on the same vacation again. But maybe it could be a Marvel universe type thing, where some of them would come back,” White said. “We only made one-year deals with the actors, so we’d have to find out who is even available.”

The White Lotus season finale will premiere this Sunday, August 15 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO, also available to stream on HBO Max at the same time.
