Jared Padalecki Slams Backstabbing Jensen Ackles For Not Including Him In His ‘Supernatural’ Spinoff

As all brothers do from time to time, the Winchester boys of Supernatural are currently feuding. After yesterday’s announcement of a Supernatural spin-off based on Dean and Sam Winchester’s parents, Jared Padalecki has announced he had no idea about the project. Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean in The CW series, is set to spearhead The Winchesters, with Padalecki having no involvement with the project at the moment.

“Dude. Happy for you,” Padalecki began, quote tweeting Deadline‘s initial story. “Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever.”

The Supernatural fandom erupted, assuming the tweet could be one big prank. When a fan inquired about the tweet being a “bad joke,” Padalecki shot down the rumors.

“No. It’s not. This is the first I’ve heard about it,” Padalecki clarified. “I’m gutted.”

Ackles and his wife, Danneel, are executive producing The Winchesters, which is currently in development at The CW, where Supernatural aired 14 of its 15 seasons. The series will be told from the perspective of Dean as a narrator, unraveling the love story of the brothers’ parents, John and Mary Winchester. The studio behind Supernatural, Warner Bros. Television, will produce The Winchesters, which will be written by Supernatural alum Robbie Thompson.

While announcing the project, Ackles said in a statement, “When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”

Ackles has yet to respond to Padalecki’s tweetstorm, but the Supernatural fanbase has certainly reacted to the dilemma. “Those Jared Padalecki tweets have me anxious as hell and I haven’t cared about SUPERNATURAL since 2012,” one Twitter user wrote. “I feel like my parents are fighting.”

Padalecki fired off a third tweet, which has since been deleted, at Thompson, who co-executive produced Supernatural. “Et tu brute? Wow,” he wrote. “What a truly awful thing you’ve done. #Bravo you coward.”
