Kristin Cavallari, Please Join ‘Southern Charm’

At first, it felt like a silly, whimsical idea. But the more I thought about it, the more I would truly love for Kristin Cavallari to join Southern Charm.

Kristin spent the weekend in Charleston, SC, as all parties involved made it clear on social media that they were spending time together. Craig Conover, Austen Kroll, and Leva Bonaparte were all pictured with her, doing typical, hot-people-hanging-out activities. The reality stars themself were loving it, those scrolling through Instagram were loving it, and really: what’s not to love?

Now, the rumors of Kristin and Austen making out, and subsequent rumors of Kristin and Craig making out, well, I have a very “pics or it didn’t happen” mentality about it all. But, I raise myself one better: TV or it didn’t happen.

Now that Kristin’s E! series Very Cavallari is over and she’s already filmed her cameo for the new season of The Hills: New Beginnings, she has likely got a semi-open calendar — you know, along with running her business Uncommon James and being a mom to three kids. But with Southern Charm not filming until the end of the summer, why NOT get Kristin involved in the process? And I’m not talking cameo on an episode. Join the show as a full-time cast member. Please.

I hope Kristin is making out with truly whoever she wants to make out with — but if it were to be one of these guys, I’d love to see it for myself. Add her into the mix, let’s see what it’s like to watch her date one (or more!) of them, and give me a reason to be super excited about Season 8. But kisses aren’t the only reason Kristin should join this cast.

She is exactly what this bunch needs. She’s never one to shy away from stirring the pot, or really, straight up causing the drama herself. She will always speak her mind, and often with something incredibly sharp, and she’s the kind of interesting person that could really wake up this cast. She’s got a business to focus on, but she’s also great at letting viewers into her relationships as well. For those that have fallen off of or never watched Southern Charm, the intrigue and curiosity alone will bring them in for sure. And for those that haven’t missed a minute — my god, how fun would this be?

Let’s see Kristin and Craig collaborate on business ventures. Same for Austen — we know he loves taking orders from sassy blondes, and I bet she could really help him expand his beer business. You already know Patricia Altschul would find her interesting and worthy of a dinner party invite. She’s already friendly with Leva, and something tells me she would get along with Shep Rose by playfully giving him shit the way he does to others. I don’t know how she would get along with Kathryn Dennis or Madison LeCroy, but I know I definitely want to watch to find out. All three are single moms…but all three are also lightning rods of drama. A bonus for Kristin is that since she’s decided not to show her children on TV, that won’t be a problem here. Please just plan to get dressed up and drunk with this crew and that’s all we need to see.

Kristin has been a reality TV staple for years and there are few people as good at that job as she is. As Southern Charm evolves, a move like this could not only keep the show fresh and interesting, but move it into new territory with new viewers and new kinds of drama to keep us watching. Again: I’m not into the social media breadcrumbs here, give me a good, hearty helping of this reality TV crossover friendship situation throughout the course of a whole season and a two-part reunion. She’s part of the friend group already, and one that loves posting about each other when they hang out, let’s take it from the ‘Gram to a slightly bigger screen. Go ahead Bravo, make some room in that budget because you’re gonna need it for a gal like this. But if Kristin has ever consistently proven anything, it’s that you’re gonna want her around.
