Kevin Clark, ‘School of Rock’s Drummer, Dead at 32

School of Rock star Kevin Clark died Wednesday in a fatal bike accident, per reports. Clark was cycling around the Northwest Side of Chicago early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car, according to the police. He was 32.

A 20-year-old woman was driving the car that struck Clark early this morning, just after 2 a.m. She was not charged, but issued with a citation.

Clark was best known for his role as Freddy Jones, aka Spazzy McGee, in Richard Linklater’s School of Rock. In Jack Black’s child band, he played the drummer. Apart from School of Rock, Clark did not pursue a career in acting. He was a musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno in 2003, performing to promote the film. Apparently, he only got the role because he could actually play the drums — which is exactly what his character does in the film.

Most recently, Clark has been performing in his own band, Dreadwolf. Their music and information can be found over at the group’s Bandcamp website. Recently, in 2018, Clark caught up with Jack Black for an impromptu School of Rock reunion in Chicago. Black got in touch with Clark when he heard the band was performing in the area. Clark treated him with his very own Dreadwolf shirt, and a nostalgic reunion was shared between the two stars.
