The 9 Best Easter Movies On Disney+

While we will always hold true the idea that Jesus Christ Superstar is the best Easter movie, we understand that an Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera set in the desert may not be for everyone. Easter can mean different things to different people, so if you’re in the mood for a movie that reflects the Easter season, whether it be a direct reference to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a celebration of springtime and rabbits and stuff, or perhaps something a little more tangential, Decider has culled through the vast Disney+ library of titles to find something that will please everyone in the family.

Our collection of Easter movies features favorite children’s characters like Winnie the Pooh and the cast of Ice Age, famous stories that also happen to be Christian allegories, and — hey, wait, why is The Rise of Skywalker on this list?? Listen, Easter’s not a holiday that gets a lot of coverage in Hollywood, but we think we justify our picks pretty well.

And for those of you who love a good egg hunt, check out Decider’s Easter Egg coverage, featuring everything you might have missed in your favorite movies and TV shows.

'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'

CAST: Bob Hoskins, Kathleen Turner, Christopher Lloyd, Charles Fleischer

RATING: PG

DESCRIPTION: During the Golden Age of Hollywood, animated characters and humans coexisted, with all cartoons living in Toontown. When Toontown – and its inhabitants – are threatened by the evil Judge Doom who can wipe them all out with his toxic “dip,” a chemical eraser that can literally scrub away all the toons. Private eye Eddie Valiant (Hoskins), who is already investigating the marriage of Roger and Jessica Rabbit, gets involved and together they all try to defeat Doom’s plan to wipe out the city.  Who Framed Roger Rabbit is simultaneously a classic and a cult favorite. Back in 1988 when it was released, it did things that no other movie had done. It combined animation with live action, it married a wacky cartoon bunny to a sexy cartoon lady. Roger Rabbit might just be the most famous rabbit ever, after the Easter Bunny.

'Silly Symphony: The Goddess of Spring'

Created in 1934, the animated short is a depiction of the Greek myth of Persephone, lured to the underworld by Hades. The Silly Symphonies were a precursor to feature length films like Snow White and Fantasia, and their Technicolor animation was groundbreaking at the time.
