Judas and the Black Messiah

Powered by Reelgood

The Golden Globes have built a well-deserved reputation over the years as Hollywood’s drunkest awards show (“Glaaaaad-IATORRRR!“), and there’s no reason to think that this year will be any different. Sure, the stars of film and television won’t all be sitting in close proximity to each other at crowded tables at the Beverly Hilton due to COVID-19 protocols, but just imagine how much MORE drunk the stars can —and hopefully will!— get if they don’t have to worry about being on camera the whole time. (Not like those exhibitionists would care, but still…)

Yes, the 2021 Golden Globes are going to be a different experience than years past, but not just because the event is largely going to be done over Zoom. As we all know, the pandemic ravaged Hollywood’s best laid release plans, leaving many of the year’s biggest and best films on the proverbial shelves. Movies like Nomadland and Promising Young Woman, frontrunners for Best Motion Picture – Drama, are excellent but have barely been seen by the general public, leaving this year’s ceremony lacking a bit of the luster of years past.

That said, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are BACK as the hosts of this year’s Globes, meaning we’re guaranteed to have a very entertaining monologue/opening sketch at the bare mininum. So buckle up and pour yourself something cold and delicious — you know the stars are!
