When you’re talking about a show that starts with the death of an infant, it’s hard to find humor. Thankfully, that’s where Rupert Grint and Toby Kebbell shine. In Servant’s latest episode they’re putting a panicked spin on one of the creepiest topics you can imagine. Apple TV+ has exclusively shared with Decider a clip from the Season 2 episode “Spaceman”, and guess what? We’re finally diving into the mysterious cult at the center of the show’s mystery.

Season 1 of M. Night Shyamalan and Tony Basgallop’s horror drama ended with Leanne (Nell Tiger Free) taking baby Jericho with her as she rejoined her cult. It’s still unknown if this Jericho is a revived version of the original Jericho, Leanne’s child, a stolen baby, or something far creepier. All you need to know is that the baby is gone and Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) and Sean (Toby Kebbell) are breaking down. At the end of Season 2’s first episode, Dorothy’s brother Julian (Rupert Grint) hired a private investigator to track down Leanne. It turns out that sketchy-sounding decision paid off.

“You believe him?” Sean asks Julian in the Episode 2 clip.

“I don’t really know him that well,” Rupert responds.

“You hired him!”

Yet another banger from Servant’s odd couple. Bickering over credentials while investigating a cult is comedic gold. Sean and Dorothy may be married, but truly Sean has the most chemistry with Julian. So what did this PI uncover to make Servant’s true couple panic? Apparently he was a victim of mind control.

After the PI returns from the cult’s house, Sean and Julian find a 12-second video on Roscoe’s (Phillip James Brannon) phone. In that clip you can hear Leanne reassuring Roscoe that nothing bad is going to happen to him while this grown man sobs. Spooky.

What to hear something even spookier? Roscoe remembers none of what happened.

That’s right; this cult has somehow figured out mind control. And based on Brannon’s performance, they’re pretty great at it. As is always the case with Servant, this search for the truth raises more questions than answers. What else did the cult instruct Roscoe to do while he was under their control? Why was he sobbing? Is Leanne the leader of this thing? After all, she was the one talking in the video. Is Leanne being mind controlled? We have no idea which way is up anymore, but you can bet we’re going to keep watching until we figure out this insane mystery.

Episode 2 of Servant premieres on Apple TV+ Friday, January 22 at 3/2c a.m. New episodes of Servant premiere on Apple TV+ every Friday.
