‘Jeopardy’ to Honor Alex Trebek’s “Spirit of Adventure” With Around the World Episodes

Jeopardy is going on a worldwide vacation this winter. The series announced today that they’ll air a special collection of “Around the World” episodes beginning next week in honor of late host Alex Trebek‘s spirit of adventure, featuring some of “the best categories he’s presented around the world.”

The episodes, which will air over the course of two weeks, will kick off Monday, Dec. 21 and run through Dec. 25, returning the next week for five more episodes from Dec. 28 through Jan. 1. Jeopardy promises “two weeks of shows featuring 10 unforgettable locations,” taking viewers on a “special trip around the world with Alex” from places like Machu Picchu to all the way to Japan and beyond.

Following Jeopardy‘s “Around the World” weeks, the show will air Trebek’s final episodes starting the week of Jan. 4. The show had originally planned to premiere Trebek’s last batch of episodes around Christmas, but pushed them to the new year “in order to give his millions of fans a chance to see his final appearances.”

While Jeopardy has yet to announce a new host, they have gone ahead with some temporary plans for future episodes. In late November, the show resumed production with a series of rotating guest hosts from within the Jeopardy family, beginning with GOAT champion Ken Jennings, whose episodes will air Jan. 11.

Trebek died in November after battling pancreatic cancer for over a year. Jeopardy has continued to air new episodes recorded over the summer featuring Trebek, and shared a Thanksgiving message from the late host last month. “You know, in spite of what America and the rest of the world is experiencing right now, there are many reasons to be thankful,” Trebek told fans in a prerecorded clip. “There are more and more people extending helpful hands to do a kindness to their neighbors, and that’s a good thing. Keep the faith; we’re gonna get through all of this, and we will be a better society because of it.”

Jeopardy airs weeknights at 7/6c on ABC.
