HBO Max is going ahead with Ava DuVernay‘s DMZ. The limited series, which comes from DuVernay and Roberto Patino, has cast its two leads with Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt set to star in the DC project. DMZ takes place in the near future, when a war-torn America has left Manhattan as a demilitarized zone, isolated from the world.

The limited series follows Alma Ortega (Dawson), on her journey to find her son after losing him during the evacuation of New York City. Meanwhile, DMZ gang leader Parco Delgado (Bratt) wants to rule the new world at whatever cost. “In this adrenalized and expansive drama which examines a stark political and cultural divide in American society, Alma must contend with the gangs, militias, demagogues and warlords that control this lawless no man’s land,” the series official description reads. “In doing so, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone here has lost…hope.”

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this epic to the screen with my boundary-pushing partners at WBTV and HBO Max, a sublime cast led by Rosario and Benjamin, and my partner and friend, the inimitable and ever-inspiring Ava DuVernay,” Patino said. “DMZ offers up an explosive playground which, more than anything else, exalts the resilience of community and the human spirit. Along with Dawson and Bratt, DMZ will also star Hoon Lee, Freddy Miyares and Jordan Preston Carter.

Apple TV+ has revealed a Season 2 premiere date for its space series For All Mankind, which will premiere Friday, Feb. 19. The second season will kick off with episode 1, followed by weekly releases on Apple TV+ each Friday. The streaming platform also announced some new cast additions, welcoming Cynthy Wu as Kelly Baldwin, Coral Peña as Aleida Rosales, and Casey W. Johnson as Danny Stevens. For All Mankind Season 2 begins in 1983 at the height of the Cold War with Ronald Reagan in office. “The Department of Defense has moved into Mission Control, and the militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories: some fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests, and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war,” the series’ official description reads.

Jillian Anderson is granting wishes in her latest role. The actress stars in Disney+‘s upcoming original movie, Godmothered. The streaming platform gave us a first look at the movie ahead of its release with a brand new trailer this morning, sharing the magical story about a godmother who still believes she can make life better for a woman who wrote a letter to her years ago when she was just a little girl. When Eleanor (Bell) finds her, Mackenzie (Isla Fisher) is a cynical grown up who doesn’t want her help, but the fairy godmother is determined to make a difference in her life. Watch the trailer above before Godmothered premieres on Disney+ Dec. 4.

Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy is extending his relationship with Netflix, Variety reports. Levy, who signed an overall TV deal with Netflix back in 2017, signed a first look deal for features with his 21 Laps Entertainment and extended his deal with the streamer today. “My ambition with 21 Laps was to build a company that would be fiercely committed to empowering storytellers across a broad swathe of genres,” Levy said. “I was hungry to find and enable other voices and visions, and share them with the broadest, most global audience possible. Netflix provides a unique platform and culture – one where our creative partners and instincts are championed, and stories that we tell across an eclectic spectrum of styles and tone can reach hundreds of millions of people around the world.” Next up for Levy and 21 Laps are the fantasy series Shadow and Bone and Lost Ollie.
