If Shonda Rhimes hadn’t been denied that Disney pass, we may never have seen today’s delicious first look at her new period drama. The unofficial queen of TV is bringing her talents to Netflix, where her first show is about to drop next month. The streaming platform gave us a welcome distraction this morning with a Bridgerton trailer, teasing the scandalous world of Rhimes’ latest project.

In today’s trailer, Lady Whistledown (Julie Andrews) never shows her face, but she still manages to stir up plenty of trouble with her scandal sheet, which chronicles the lives and secrets of Regency-era England’s young, sexy singles. “The social season is upon us. We shall discover which young ladies might succeed at securing a match,” she says in a voiceover. “Let it be known: if there’s a scandal, I shall uncover it and share every last detail.”

The new series, which is based on Julia Quinn’s novels, stars Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, Bessie Carter, and more. Bridgerton comes to Netflix as a Christmas treat on Dec. 25. Watch the full trailer in the video above.

Here’s what else you may have missed today:

Christopher Walken has a new gig. Variety reports that Walken has been cast in Apple TV+‘s upcoming drama, Severance. Walken joins a cast that already includes Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Zach Cherry and Britt Lower. Severance, a workplace thriller, follows Lumen Industries, “a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level.” Walken has signed on to play the department head of Optics and Design at Lumen, a character named Burt.

Jeopardy‘s greatest players are reuniting for their very own game show. After participating in Jeopardy‘s Greatest of All Time tournament, Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter are back for a new ABC game show, Deadline reports. The three champs will star in a remake of The Chase, a British game show getting its own American twist. The View‘s Sara Haines will host the show, which is described as “a ruthless quiz genius determined to stop contestants from winning cash prizes. Each week, new contestants face-off against the Chasers in a battle of brain power, challenged to think faster than they ever thought possible.”

The Talk just lost a longtime host. After four seasons on the show, Eve will be leaving, Entertainment Weekly reports. The host confirmed the news today, telling her viewers, “It’s been a crazy year, obviously, for all of us. And I’ve been so grateful that I’m able to stay here in London and do the show. But I can’t see, for me, the foreseeable future of traveling back at the moment and have decided that at the end of December, this will probably be my last time on the show, in this capacity as a host.” Eve’s departure comes not long after Marie Osmond also left the show in September after spending one season as a host.

We’ll be seeing more of Jimmy Fallon. The late night host’s contract has been extended at NBC, Variety reports. Fallon, who has hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon since 2015, will now be continuing on the show through the fall of 2021, extending his previous contract by three-and-a-half years. Looks like we’ll be getting more Slow Jam the News and Thank You Notes!
