‘Below Deck Med’s Robert Westergaard Recalls Modeling with Taylor Swift

Long before Robert Westergaard was mixing up his stern lines on Below Deck Mediterranean, the deckhand was flirting his way to Taylor Swift‘s heart. Last night on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Rob revealed that he once modeled with Taylor Swift for a cover shoot, where the two engaged in some playful banter. Something makes me think that Jessica isn’t loving these Taylor Swift and Rob from Below Deck rumors…

After getting last night’s Below Deck Med drama out of the way (I’m team Aesha; screw Tom), Andy Cohen turned to a much more important matter. “Maybe we should start calling you Mr. Americana because in 2013 you were in a Vanity Fair cover shoot with Taylor Swift. And I have a speed round of questions,” said the Bravo host, before flashing an image of the cover on-screen. “When you got booked for this gig, did you know it was a shoot with Taylor Swift?”

“I was surprised, yeah,” replied Rob. “My agent was like, ‘We have this opportunity for you to shoot with Peter Lindbergh,’ who was, like, the greatest fashion and editorial photographer ever. And they were like, ‘Listen, you’re going to shoot with someone famous.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t really care. I just want an image from Peter Lindbergh.'”

When Cohen asked if “there was a love connection” between Rob and Taylor Swift, the Below Deck Med star blushed. “There was a little back and forth, yeah,” he said. “Teaching her some Xhosa [an official language of his native South Africa], and stuff like that.”

“Did it carry over after you left the shoot?” asked Cohen, always angling for that tea. “Um, no,” replied Rob with what Aesha described as “a little cheeky smile.”

Rob added that T-Swizz is a “very natural” model, as “she grew up in that world” and “knew how to move in front of a camera.” As for Swift’s deckhand skills, the jury’s still out.

Check out the Rob Westergaard-Taylor Swift (almost) love story above.
