Who Plays the Twins in ‘The Politician’ Season 2?

Every hero needs at least one villain and in The Politician Season 2 it seems like Payton is missing a major one of his. If you’ve been wondering where Martin and Luther are, never fear. The terrifying and dumb Hobart twins do make an appearance in The Politician Season 2.

When Payton (Ben Platt) wasn’t fighting his political rivals in this comedy’s first season he was fighting his brothers and for a place in his own family. Because Payton was adopted and his father is terrible, he was often treated as a second class citizen in his own home. And since he’s also the apple of his mother’s eye, Payton made for the perfect target for these bullies. Here’s what you need to know about the aggressive pair.

Are the Hobart Twins in The Politician Season 2?

They certainly are though they don’t appear often. But first it’s worth taking a walk down memory lane. After Georgina (Gwyneth Paltrow) cheated on her extraordinarily rich husband she was given a choice. She could either break things off with her new girlfriend or both she and Payton (Ben Platt) would be written out of his will. Keaton (Bob Balaban) learned that his wife planned to stay with her mistress, so he wrote both mother and son out of their inheritance just as he said he would. That left the twins, Martin (Trevor Mahlon Eason) and Luther (Trey Eason), as the sole benefactors of the Hobart fortune.

Martin and Luther only appear twice in The Politician Season 2. The first time they visit their mother in “New York State of Mind” while she’s in the middle of her gubernatorial race. That time they tease their adopted brother for falling behind in his own political race. But the second time they appear it’s much more on brand. In “Cancel Culture” it’s revealed that Martin and Luther were the ones who sent Dede Standish’s (Judith Light) campaign the incriminating photo of a six-year-old Payton dressed as Geronimo. New season, same terrible brothers.

Who Plays the Hobart Twins in The Politician?

That would be Trevor Mahlon Eason and Trey Eason. They were recurring characters in The Politician Season 1, and in Season 2 they return to do yoga and terrorize their brother.

Where Have You Seen the Hobart Twins Before?

The Eason twins didn’t have many roles prior to The Politician. Both starred in the shorts Wake Up! and Automated End, and Trevor Mahlon Eason had a part in the TV movie A Smile as Big as the Moon. But The Politician Season 2 isn’t the first time they’ve returned to Netflix in 2020. The Eason twins were also in the Netflix musical special Ben Platt Live from Radio City Music Hall where they played themselves.
