Just when you thought it was impossible for Dark to get more complicated, it got more complicated. The trailer for the third and final season of Netflix’s thrilling time traveling saga has finally arrived and it comes with the mother of all twists. Jonas doesn’t merely have to solve a time paradox; he has to save the multiverse.

Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, Dark is undoubtably one of the most ambitious and well-plotted gems on Netflix. This twisting story started with Jonas Kahnwald (Louis Hofmann), a teenager who wanted to understand why his father killed himself. Little did he know the warped family dynamics and lifetime of regrets that led to that death, and he comes to learn his father was actually his girlfriend’s younger brother who accidentally traveled back in time to grow up in the ’80s. And that’s just the tip of this time-bending mystery.

After the events of Season 2 we already had a fairly solid idea about where this drama was heading. Last season Jonas learned that the mysterious and deadly Adam, his foe throughout this complex series and the person responsible for orchestrating these time cycles, was actually another version of himself. Adam told Jonas the truth about what was going to happen. There will be one more cycle of time. That means Jonas only has one more shot to straighten out his town’s history and make everything on his timeline right.

But because nothing can ever be easy in this saga, Dark is introducing another wrinkle in Season 3. In the first moments of this new trailer, Jonas asks a version of his love interest Martha (Lisa Vicari) what time she’s from. “It’s not about what time,” she says, “but from what world.”

Boom. Multiverses are real in the world of Dark. And if we know anything about this warped series, they’re here to traumatize and confuse us six ways ’til Sunday. Not only will Jonas have to fix his own timeline. He’ll have to correct the timelines of other universes he never even knew existed. Dark premieres its third and final season June 27. Honestly, the circle can’t close soon enough.
