Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, and on Riverdale that means all your ‘ships are coming home to port. And though “Chapter Sixty-Four: The Ice Storm” won’t air on The CW until November 20, we’ve got your first look at the series’ Mayflower, as well as its Niña, Pinta and Santa María, thanks to new stills from the episode.
Related: yes, I realize I’m mixing together the voyages of the Pilgrims and Christopher Columbus, but there are a lot of ‘ships here, so deal with it and move on.
We’ve already done a pretty detailed breakdown of the synopsis for the hour, which is written by Arabella Anderson and directed by Alex Pillai. But in case you missed that (or didn’t click the link one sentence back), here’s that synopsis, one more time:
THANKSGIVING IN RIVERDALE — Archie’s (KJ Apa) plan to host a peaceful Thanksgiving dinner at the community center quickly gets derailed when some unexpected guests arrive. Stranded at Stonewall Prep by an ice storm, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) search for clues about a recent death on campus. Elsewhere, while FP (Skeet Ulrich), Alice (Madchen Amick), Hiram (Mark Consuelos) and Hermoine (Marisol Nichols) wait out the storm together at Pop’s, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) get resourceful as they host a dinner for Cheryl’s family. Camila Mendes, Casey Cott and Charles Melton also star. Alex Pillai directed the episode written by Arabella Anderson (#407.) Original airdate 11/20/2019.
But enough words, let’s look at some pictures!
First up, it’s been a long time coming, but FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich) and Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick) are finally together. It was a long journey through perilous waters, but Falice is in full effect, ready to share the bounty of their cornucopia with us, the fans:
Look at that… Doesn’t your Falice loving heart feel more full than a stomach stuffed with two helpings of turkey and an extra slice of pie?
It’s not all whipped cream and sweet potatoes for FP, though, as he’s also tossing on his sheriff outfit to talk to Archie Andrews, and Munroe “Mad Dog” Moore (Eli Goree) at their community center, as well as Veronica Lodge/Luna (Camila Mendes) who also stars in this episode:
Meanwhile, in the Riverdale Season 4 premiere, Archie’s father Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) was struck and killed by a hit and run driver, and as a result Archie has vowed to be a better man, like his dad. Part of that is his renewed interest in the community center, which is serving up outreach to Riverdale’s at-risk youth. Clearly, Mary Andrews (Molly Ringwald) is helping Archie reconnect with his father’s memory in the episode — though of note, things do get predictably wild in the episode in Mary’s storyline, though that’s not reflected in the stills:
Despite the threat of a literal ice storm, it looks like all the ‘ships all dock at the community center this week, including Choni, a.k.a. Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan):
