New Movies on Demand: ‘Rocketman,’ ‘A Dog’s Journey,’ ‘The Hustle,’ and More

Free at last, free at last! Pat yourselves on the back, people, because you just survived a very long and taxing work week. Odds are, if you’re burnt out like I am, then you are ready to shut the door on the people who won’t stop yapping and decompress with a nice movie to enjoy in your alone time. Doesn’t that sound nice right about now? And whether you use Amazon Video, iTunes, Vudu or your cable’s on-demand service, there are a lot of new releases out there that are perfect for shutting out the world while you take a much-needed break from reality.

Elton John fans are in for a real treat because Rocketman is now available to buy your favorite on-demand platforms. Starring the handsome and extremely-talented Taron Egerton, the movie retells the true story of how rock legend Elton John rose to fame and overcame many physical and mental obstacles to become the man he is today. In addition, lovers of the movie A Dog’s Purpose have been blessed with the sequel, A Dog’s Journey. Based off of the novel by the same author, the movie follows Bailey as he lives his constantly-reincarnated life looking to take care of CJ, his original owner’s granddaughter to whom he grew very attached when he was living his life with grown-up Ethan. And if you held off watching Pokemon Detective Pikachu until it was available to rent, then your wait is long over!

Rocketman

Before there was Sir Elton John, there was Reginald Dwight: a shy young boy from the “middle of nowhere” with a natural gift for music. But how did the “fat kid from the middle of nowhere” turn into the music icon and international treasure is today? Rocketman, the biographical film about Elton John, follows the musician through his earliest years as he skyrocketed to superstardom. Starring Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard and Taron Egerton as the legend himself, Rocketman features the sparkle and whimsy that is the music but sheds light on the man that struggled with substance abuse, relationships and his identity as a musician, and as a person during its creation.

The Hustle

Opposites truly attract in the comedy flick The Hustle, which is about two con women who use wildly different methods to swindle wealthy —albeit flawed— men from their millions. When the glamorous, sophisticated Brit Josephine (Anne Hathaway) comes across the more crass, abrasive Penny (Rebel Wilson), they decide to work together to pull off a great con in the French Riviera. But things rarely go as planned when two women go after the same man, no matter the motive. Viewers can enjoy the two mismatched characters duke it out in this hilarious film filled with gags, antics and just a really good time.
