‘New Girl’ on Netflix: Season 7 Is Finally Available to Stream after a Long Wait

The wait is finally over–New Girl Season 7 is now on Netflix! And it only took a year.

The beloved Fox sitcom wrapped up its run with one final mini season back in the spring of 2018 before concluding in May. Now, exactly a year after the Season 7 premiere, New Girl’s final season is available to stream on Netflix. This is a big deal because a whole lot of New Girl fans (myself definitely included) discovered the show on Netflix. And for a chunk of those fans, Netflix was consistently the way they got new episodes. If you’re one of those people, you’ve waited a whole year longer than everyone else to find out what happens between Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson)!

What happened at the end of New Girl Season 6?

If you need a refresher (the Season 6 finale did air in April 2017 and was added to Netflix a year ago), here’s how Season 6 ended. Plenty of plot threads were tied up in the Season 6 finale, definitely because the showrunners knew that it had to double as a series finale just in case Season 7 didn’t happen. That’s why Nick and Reagan (Megan Fox) broke up, and why we found out that Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) were having a baby, and it’s why Jess and Nick finally confessed their feelings for each other. The Season 6 finale ended with Nick and Jess in the loft’s elevator, making out furiously (and finally!).

What happens in Season 7 of New Girl?

Well, obviously no spoilers if you’ve waited a year to watch it and remained spoiler-free! I will tell you this: Season 7 is kind of a victory lap for the show since the Season 6 finale felt so series-finale-y. For one thing, it’s a shorter season–only 8 episodes. It’s also set three years after the Season 6 finale. The loft-mates have all grown up… mostly!

The final season of New Girl is available to stream on Netflix right now.
