Amazon Prime Video 2019 Preview: 10 Must-See Titles Coming This Year

It’s safe to say that 2018 was a banner year for Amazon Prime Video. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was the talk of the town, earning critical and commercial acclaim; Sam Esmail’s psychological thriller Homecoming premiered to rave reviews; and John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan delivered an action-packed game of cat and mouse. After a sensational year, what does Prime Video have in store for us in 2019? Short answer, a lot!

Along with new seasons of The Grand Tour, Goliath, Man in the High Castle, and Sneaky Pete, Amazon has a slew of high-profile projects that may or may not debut in 2019, including a Lord of the Rings TV series, a Conan the Barbarian show, a Jeff Goldblum/Danny DeVito comedy, and so much more. Since those projects are still in the earlier stages of development, our preview focuses on Amazon originals already in production. Joining returning favorites like Bosch and Transparent is a mix of intriguing new shows like The ABC Murders, a mystery drama starring John Malkovich, and Good Omens, an end of the world fantasy comedy starring Michael Sheen, David Tennant, and Jon Hamm.

Prime Video has solidified itself as a top-tier destination for prestige television — shout out to Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan’s criminally under-appreciated comedy Catastrophe — and 2019 may very well be the platform’s best year yet.

“Everybody wants to know,” Roberts said, with James adding, “I’ll let Sam, Eli, and Micah talk about it, but I can’t say too much.”
