‘The Simpsons’ Is Still The Most Popular Cartoon According To New Analysis

As we approach the 30th overall season of The Simpsons, you may be wondering how popular the series actually still is in the States. Thanks to the Data Team at All Home Connections, you can now see which animated sitcom your state tends to search for the most, from American Dad! to South Park and more.

Limiting their study to the top 15 most popular animated sitcoms, analysts took a look at Google Trends to identify the most popular shows by comparing total search volume in each state. You can check out the below map summarizing their findings, which clearly shows The Simpsons as the frontrunner.

Other interesting findings includes the fact that Colorado’s number one animated sitcom is South Park, which makes sense considering Matt Stone grew up there and the show takes place there. The same trend relating to creator origins seems to hold true for The Simpsons and Family Guy. Matt Groening is from Portland, and sure enough, Oregon’s number one is The Simpsons. Seth MacFarlane was born in Connecticut and which show did his state pick? Family Guy.

Although Rick and Morty is among the most watched cable television series, it didn’t take the lead in the majority of states for favorite animated sitcom. The fan-favorite, however, is set to return for a fourth season sometime in 2019 and could very well top this list in the future.

While you may or may not agree with these rankings, Groening’s masterpiece of a series clearly has longevity for a reason. The people have spoken and The Simpsons doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon!
