An ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Reboot Still Isn’t Happening

We know at least one show that’s not going to get a reboot. At the Television Critics Association‘s 2018 summer tour Brad Garrett discussed the possibility of an Everybody Loves Raymond reboot or revival after a panel for Single Parents.

“You know this has been asked a lot, and Ray will not even consider a reboot because — and I totally agree — because the parents were so much of that show. And there’s no show without them,” he said to a group of reporters after an ABC panel.

The actor also doesn’t think there’s any chance for a spin-off that revolves around Robert (Garrett) and Amy (Monica Horan). “It looked like right after we wrapped it was a good possibility, but they just couldn’t get it together. I wanted the same writers and the same showrunners, and that deal just didn’t happen. But it would have been fun,” he said before adding, “Lightening doesn’t strike twice.”

For now we’ll just have to settle for Garrett in Single Parents. The new ABC sitcom follows a group of parents who have to navigate the world of dating while raising children. The series is created by Elizabeth Meriwether and J. J. Philbin and stars Taran Killam and Leighton Meester.

Single Parents premieres on ABC on September 26, 2018.
