“Suspended” Ronda Rousey Leaps Barricade To Interfere In WWE Title Match At ‘Extreme Rules’

WWE Extreme Rules was filled with an array of unexpected surprises (The B-Team winning! Roman Reigns losing! Randy Orton attacking Jeff Hardy!), but the most predictable moment of the night was Ronda Rousey interfering in the WWE Raw Women’s Championship match between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax.

As you may recall, one night after Alexa Bliss cost Rousey her first WWE title reign at Money in the Bank, the former UFC standout was storyline suspended for attacking Bliss and multiple WWE officials. Since Ronda’s suspension only relates to Monday Night Raw, the supreme fighting machine (no, not Kama) vowed to appear at Extreme Rules — not as Ronda Rousey the wrestler, but as Ronda Rousey the fan.

Anyone who’s ever seen a wrestling match knew how this would play out, and Rousey certainly did not disappoint.

During Bliss and Jax’s “extreme rules” match (which basically means anything goes), Alexa and her cohort Mickie James began attacking Jax’s quasi manager for the evening, Natalya. Not only is Nattie a member of the venerable Hart family dynasty, but she also just so happens to be friends with Rousey. As the iconic Hulk Hogan theme song states, “if you hurt my friends, then you hurt my pride.”

The two-on-one attack led to Rousey leaping the barricade and rushing to the aid of her pal.

The Rowdy one threw Mickie James into the barricade before tossing her into the ring to deliver a pulverising slam. From there, Rousey almost got her hands on Bliss, but before she could inflict any damage, she was attacked by James with a kendo stick. With Ronda incapacitated, Alexa and Mickie were able to double team Jax, which led to a Bliss retaining her title.

So what’s next for Ronda Rousey? Last night’s controversial finish and her escalating feud with Alexa Bliss all but ensures that the two women will be involved in a WWE Raw Woman’s Championship match at SummerSlam. Will Nia Jax be added to make it a triple threat? Who knows. But Ronda Rousey and Alexa Bliss will almost certainly be squaring off at the WWE’s annual summer pay per view.
