“Too Many Cooks” Creator Takes on Video Games in the Craziest Video You’ll Watch Today

Remember “Too Many Cooks,” Adult Swim‘s viral video that started as a sitcom parody before quickly descending into sheer madness? Of course you do. You’re probably still mentally scared by it. Well master of the bizarre Casper Kelly is back with a new video, and this one is going to hurt.

Called “Final Deployment 4: Queen Battle Walkthrough,” the video from co-creators Casper Kelly and Nick Gibbons (Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell) is something that could once again only work on Adult Swim. The 22-minute video opens on a typical gamer named Blair Trigger who’s livestreaming his walkthrough of a first person shooter — Final Deployment 4: Queen Battle Walkthrough. At first it’s video game business as usual. Blair Trigger makes some dumb comments and offers some tips as he guides his army man to kill more alien bugs. But as the livestream progresses, the game changes. In the Final Deployment 4 universe, the war against the bugs ends, and his military man character Scurge has to go back to live with his mom.

Blair Trigger then continues to narrate a completely different game. Instead of fighting alien bug monsters, Scurge now has to work for eight hours a day in a drug store. That’s in real time, folks. Instead of monitoring statistics like ammo and health, he has to monitor his depression and anger to make sure Scurge remains an acceptable member of society. Instead of fighting monsters, Scurge has to fight hallucinations about his girlfriend cheating on him and PTSD spells. You get the idea; it’s a too real video game.

In fact Final Deployment 4 is so real, the manly Scurge decides to blow off some steam by playing some video games of his own. Naturally, he starts a livestream, which means this sketch starts with a liverstreaming gamer controlling a video game character who is also livestreaming a video game. And we’re only at the first level of this Inception masterpiece.
