That’s a wrap on Season 2 of Sneaky Pete!
Premiering last Friday on Prime Video, many fans have already binged all ten episodes. The finale provided a satisfying conclusion to the season’s long con, but it also left viewers with a host of additional questions regarding the future of Marius Josipovic (Giovanni Ribisi). The most pressing query, however, has little to do with Marius’ secret. Now that fans have devoured the latest season, they want to know when they can expect Sneaky Pete Season 3 to drop on Amazon.
How long will you have to wait for this addicting Amazon series to return? Here’s everything we know about Sneaky Pete Season 3.
HAS SNEAKY PETE BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 3?
Nope. Unfortunately, Amazon has yet to greenlight the series for a third season. The first season debuted in its entirety on January 13, 2017 and it took Amazon only six short days to renew the series for Season 2. But here’s the good news: Season 2 currently boasts an 88% Tomatometer rating and a 92% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Those numbers certainly bode well for Season 3.
DID SEASON 2 END ON A CLIFFHANGER?
You know it. While the first season ended on a plot cliffhanger, the latest batch of episodes concluded with an intriguing character beat as Julia (Marin Ireland) asks Marius’ parole officer Bagwell (Malcolm Jamal Warner) a simple question regarding Marius: “What’s his name?”
Has Julia figured out Marius’ con? If so, how will she react? Will she share his secret with the rest of the family?
When Decider spoke with showrunner Graham Yost about Season 2, he explained how he used the show’s memorable Season 1 finale (“Take us to your mother and the $11 million dollars”) to try and secure a Season 2.
“We tried to make it so hooky, that Amazon, even if the show had tanked, they would have to pick it up just because they wanted to find out what would happen next.”
It looks as though Yost implemented the same plan with the Season 2 cliffhanger.
WHAT DOES GRAHAM YOST THINK ABOUT A POTENTIAL SEASON 3?
Yost said he’s constantly communicating with Amazon, but that they just have to wait and see how Season 2 does before a decision is made regarding new episodes.
“They gotta see how it does,” Yost told us. “Last year could be a fluke, and you know they’re a company with their own desires and aims and all that. We’ll see. We’re very proud of what we’ve done.”
IF SNEAKY PETE IS RENEWED FOR ANOTHER SEASON, WHEN CAN WE EXPECT NEW EPISODES TO PREMIERE?
There was about a 14-month gap between Season 1 and Season 2. With that in mind, it’s reasonable to assume Season 3 would premiere in the spring or summer of 2019.
