Julia Louis-Dreyfus may have just made headlines for breaking records with her Emmy Award wins, but the actress took to her Twitter account early this afternoon to share news of a much more somber nature. With a photo of a note personal note, the 56-year-old star of Veep and Seinfeld announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Just when you thought…” she tweeted, with the image attached. “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one.”

Many celebrities have weighed in on the healthcare battle over the last few months, but just as Jimmy Kimmel has made a point of politicizing his own personal experiences to emphasize the importance of healthcare for all, Louis-Dreyfus similarly did so as well. Rather than make it about her, she noted that many people are not as lucky as she is when it comes to support and accessibility to care.

“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union,” she wrote. “The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

Dreyfus did not tweet anything else following her announcement, but there has been an outpouring of support for the actress on the platform.
