UPDATE 08/11/17: Good news! The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling will officially be back to grapple on Netflix for a ten-episode second season!

———

Now that we’ve binged the first season of GLOW, we only have one question: When is Season 2!?

Created by Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive, Netflix’s addictive new series is inspired by the true life story of an all-female 1980s professional wrestling league. Starring Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron, GLOW follows a ragtag group of women who team up to create a low-budget wrestling program. An inspirational tale of courage, friendship, and teamwork, the show is a hit with both critics and audiences, but will there be a Season 2?

DOES SEASON 1 OF GLOW END ON A CLIFFHANGER?

Not really. Episode 10 concludes with a fitting end to the Season 1 story, but the good news is that we’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to the gorgeous ladies of wrestling. In the show within the show, Season 1 was all about the transformation of GLOW as a concept to GLOW as an actual wrestling series. Now that the combatants know a hip toss from an armbar, Season 2 can (potentially) dive deeper into the in-ring action.

HOW MANY SEASONS DID THE ORIGINAL GLOW LAST?

The initial iteration of the series that the Netflix comedy is based on ran for four seasons (1986-1989).

EVEN ALISON BRIE DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT A SECOND SEASON

When asked about a potential second season on EW Morning Live, Brie admitted that she hadn’t officially heard anything about putting on the spandex for Season 2. “We don’t know,” Brie said.” We really don’t know. I think we won’t know until…everybody gets a chance to see it.”

The fact that the show hasn’t officially been renewed for a second season hasn’t stopped the actress from speculating on what Season 2 would look like. Brie told The Hollywood Reporter that she believes the “obvious idea is to see more wrestling.”

“This first season is about these women learning to wrestle and it’s all building to the shooting of the pilot episode of GLOW. So imagining that the show within our show is picked up, then I would look forward to more of the glitz and glam of shooting actual GLOW episodes and not only doing the wrestling side of GLOW, but hopefully getting to do some of their sketches and a bit more of the rapping would also be fun.”

WILL THERE BE A GLOW SEASON 2?

If we had to wager a guess… yes. Both critics and audiences alike are obsessed with the new Netflix comedy. GLOW currently holds an exemplary 96% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.4/10 rating on IMDB. Despite the recent spate of cancellations, Netflix generally likes to give their shows time to grow and develop.

Even though there’s been no official announcement regarding a second season, we suspect we haven’t seen the last of GLOW because as Sam says in the Season 1 finale, “The money’s in the chase.”
