Final Shots: Sling TV Now Has 1.3 Million Subscribers

Dish Network’s Sling TV, which is currently the most popular live television streaming platform for its introduction of the “skinny bundle,” has disclosed Q1 figures that suggest it now has 1.3 million subscribers. A Wall Street analyst also estimates that all live television streaming platforms will have 3M users collectively by year end.

According to Multichannel News, the revelation shows just how strong Sling TV remains despite competition from new platforms such as DirectTV Now and Playstation Vue. Dan Rayburn, EVP of StreamingMedia.com and principal analyst at Frost & Sullivan cited that number based on information that Sling TV has been circulating to Wall Street analysts. In addition to the aforementioned platforms, the 3M figure takes into account both YouTube TV’s recent launch and Hulu’s forthcoming live TV launch. The platform itself, however, has yet to confirm the estimate.
