Amazon’s newest original series Z: The Beginning of Everything, available now, chronicles Zelda (Christina Ricci) and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s (David Hoflin) relationship, from dating to disaster. And yes, that includes their wedding night.
While the beginning of the series is very much worth a watch as their courting process is truly the highlight of their time together, it’s episode 4 where things get interesting. After the pair meet in her home state of Alabama, Scott is shipped off to the war, and the two keep in touch by writing letters to each other until they reunite in New York City. They waste no time getting married and then throwing quite the party.

In fact, it’s such a rager that in order to get her new husband’s attention, Zelda must pull quite a trick. She strips down to her birthday suit, looking amazing, and stands in the doorway to the bedroom, asking their guests, “If y’all don’t mind, I’d like to have my new husband to myself now.” Trying to shuffle the guests away didn’t work, but this sure did. The guests sit in stunned silence until they start to file out, and when Scott walks over to his new bride, she admits, “I couldn’t wait one second more.” Get him, girl!

This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, as Zelda’s personality was always flirty, frisky, and fearless. The show doesn’t really boast a ton of other R-rated content, so this scene will certainly make you do a double take. Ricci portrays Zelda as a confident woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it, as this scene clearly displays. It plays much more as a sensual moment than purely sexual, not that that takes away from the surprise of it all. The show has many other sweet moments to take in from the beginning, but this scene will still serve as an eye-opener nearly halfway through the series.
