Final Shots: Michelle Yeoh Confirmed For CBS All Access’ ‘Star Trek: Discovery’

Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed for her role as Starfleet captain in CBS All Access’ forthcoming new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery. The SVOD original series has also cast Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp in supporting roles.

According to Deadline, Jones will portray the alien Lt. Saru and Rapp will play Lt. Stamets, both of whom are Starfleet Science Officers of different specialties. Yeoh will play Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet Captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou. The series, which has not yet cast its lead, will premiere exclusively via the platform in the States and on Netflix abroad in May 2017.

Helmed by BET founder Bob Johnson, the innovative new platform is the very first SVOD service created specifically for African American and urban audiences in North America.

Amazon has revealed that Prime Video will be reviving Sid & Marty Krofft’s popular 1970s kids series, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. According to a press release, David Arquette will star as Captain Barnabas in the series, which was announced today alongside an additional brand new animated series titled Bug Diaries.

Sling TV has confirmed to Decider that it is now authenticating to several NBCUniversal and Fox/FX apps. The new initiative, which allows subscribers to access content across other apps and websites, helps to broaden Sling TV’s reach in the wake of DirecTV Now’s launch.

Starz has revealed that it has integrated the music streaming platform Spotify into its premium video streaming service app. According to a press release, subscribers can now stream their favorite music alongside their favorite movie and television content.
