A good sports comedy comes around just as often as the Cubs make it to the World Series. Ok fine, maybe a bit more frequently than that. But Now We’re Talking does feel like a special moment. If you haven’t watched every available episode already, the last installment of the series lands on go90 today, so you can binge it all.

The series is created, written, produced by, and stars Tommy Dewey (Casual, The Mindy Project) and Tug Coker (The Office) as former football players who take a sports broadcasting class to try their hands at that career. As the guys discover it’s not quite as simple as they imagined, you will begin laughing from the very first scene of the series, and that is a promise.

Throughout the 7 episodes, the guys expose some of their least favorite techniques when it comes to sports broadcasting, while welcoming several NFL athletes, including Shawne Merriman, Curt Menefee, and Marcedes Lewis. But the best part about this being such a great sports comedy, is that both sports fans and those that can’t tell a home run from a hat trick will not only enjoy it, but find something about it that resonates with them. There are deeper notes of friendship and figuring out your life, especially when it throws you a curveball, if I may, that give it an extra handful of heart.

Now We’re Talking comes from LeBron James’ Uninterrupted productions, which is a perfect fit for it. Similar to Starz’ Survivor’s Remorse, Now We’re Talking helps to prove that some of the best sports shows, and in particular, the comedies, show very, very few scenes of actual athletics happening. It’s more than evident that Tug and Tommy know how to talk the talk, without ever really having to walk the walk on-screen.

As the guys attempt class assignments, understanding their friendship, and even throwing a party, the series will keep you hooked, laughing, and at around 10 minutes an episode, have you craving much more. It’s a great watch for days when there are no games on, or even on days when you want to squeak an episode in during halftime. Now We’re Talking remains naturally funny throughout, in that easy, familiar way that will make you feel like you’re hanging around with your friends.

And speaking of hanging out with friends, check out our recent Facebook Live with Tommy and Tug – complete with a paper football game!
