Amazon and the Weinstein Company have acquired a brand new yet-to-be-titled anthology series from Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner. The series, which will be co-financed by the two studios, will premiere exclusively via Prime Video.

According to Deadline, the eight-episode series had been in a six-party bidding war, with the SVOD giant winning for a $70 million commitment. Weiner, who made a name for himself with The Sopranos, will reportedly focus the new series on present-day events and situations around the globe. He will create, write, executive produce, as well as direct the first four episodes of the first season.

Nurse Jackie star Paul Schulze has been cast as a series regular in Marvel’s The Punisher, starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle. The Netflix original series, which is a spinoff of Marvel’s Daredevil, will debut in 2017 and will feature Schulze as Rawlins, a high-ranking CIA operative. Daniel Webber, Jason R.
