Terror Attacks Force U2 To Postpone Live HBO Gig That Was Set To Air Tomorrow Night … From Paris

U2 has been dazzling audiences worldwide on their iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE world tour, and the famed four-piece was set to perform a live gig in Paris tomorrow night that was to be broadcast live on HBO, HBO Go and HBO Now. In the wake of tonight’s terror attacks in Paris, though, tomorrow night’s concert has been understandably postponed.

The band released a statement on their website, U2.com, earlier this evening:

As a result of the ongoing state of emergency across France, the U2 Paris concert scheduled for 14th November will not be going ahead as planned. U2 and Live Nation, along with HBO who were due to live broadcast the Saturday concert, are fully resolved to go ahead with this show at an appropriate time.

Speaking from Paris the band said:

“We watched in disbelief and shock at the unfolding events in Paris and our hearts go out to all the victims and their families across the city tonight.

We are devastated at the loss of life at the Eagles of Death Metal concert and our thoughts and prayers are with the band and their fans.

And we hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe.”

And then the official @HBOPR account confirmed the news on Twitter:

As of publish time (10:30 p.m. Friday), the HBO website still shows that the U2 special is set to air tomorrow night. TVLine.com, though, reports that the network will show a repeat airing of Jersey Boys in its place.

Note that the statement released by the band does not say that the show is cancelled; rather, the statement purposefully says that U2, their promoter Live Nation, and HBO are “fully resolved to go ahead with this show at an appropriate time.”

Earlier this year, the USA Network postponed the season finale of Mr. Robot in the wake of a domestic terrorism incident.
