Meet Queue: It’s Meagan Good’s Time To Shine On ‘Minority Report’

During her transcendent Emmys speech last night, Viola Davis —the first African-American woman to win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series — gave tribute to the other women in the industry who inspired her to push onwards. She mentioned the likes of Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, Halle Berry, Nicole Beharie, Gabrielle Union…and Meagan Good. Now if you know Good at all, you might remember her as a child star or a sultry video vixen. The truth is Meagan Good is an outstanding actress capable of conquering comedy, action, and drama, and she’s about to explode.

Meagan Good is starring in Fox’s new drama Minority Report. The series debuts tonight and Good steals the entire show. If you want to see more Meagan Good, we’ve compiled five titles on streaming just for you. It’s kind of like a “meet cute” in a romantic comedy, but because it’s all streaming, we’re calling it your “meet queue.” So get ready to fall in love with Meagan Good…

Video Girl (2011)

Meagan Good is no stranger to music videos. The actress played the lead in 50 Cent’s video for “21 Questions,” Will Smith’s video for “Black Suits Comin’ (Nod Ya Head),” K-Ci & JoJo’s video for “This Very Moment,” and many more. Still, one of Good’s first big leading roles as a adult was in the film Video Girl. The movie takes the seemingly glamorous life of being a “video girl” and turns it on its head. Good plays Lorie Walker, a small-town girl who achieves her dream of becoming a major hip hop dancer, only to find out that the high life isn’t that great. [Watch Video Girl on Netflix]

Think Like A Man (2012)

Meagan Good crossed over into the big leagues with her role in Steve Harvey’s hugely popular Think Like A Man films. Good played Mya, the “90 Day Rule Girl.” Yep, that means that she’s won’t put out until they are four months into a relationship. The blockbuster comedy gave Good a chance to prove she could be a dazzling rom com lead — and that she could hold her own amongst the best and brightest in the business? Her co-stars? Taraji P. Henson, Regina Hall, and Gabrielle Union. [Where to Stream Think Like A Man]

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)

When Will Ferrell decided to return to the world of Ron Burgundy, the world’s greatest newsman, he decided to mix things up a bit. Ron would be threatened by his lady love Veronica Corningstone’s success as a female news anchor and so he would leave, join cable news, and take things up with his sexy producer. That producer was played by none other than Meagan Good. Good was able to keep up with the comedy titan and win over a whole new set of fans in the process. Deception (2013)

After the success of Scandal, other networks started setting their sights on juicy primetime soaps starring strong black female leads. One of the first was NBC’s Deception. Good was tapped to play Joanna Locasto, a fierce detective who must revisit her past with a rich white family when their daughter — and her estranged best friend — is found dead. Even though the series was canceled after only 13 episodes, the drama proved that Good was capable enough to be a enchanting lead actress. [Watch Deception on Hulu]

Minority Report (2015)

Meagan Good is getting her second big shot at network TV stardom with the brand new series Minority Report. Whether or not you’re sold on revisiting Steven Spielberg’s underrated sci-fi gem, Good is positively outstanding in the series. The actress plays Lara Vega, a brilliant homicide detective living in 2065 Washington, DC. It’s been years since the “Pre-Crime Unit” has been disbanded and murder rates are rising. Vega teams up with Dash (Stark Sands), one of the original pre-cogs, to use his visions to try to stop crimes before they happen. Minority Report debuts on FOX tonight at 9 PM ET.
