Afternoon Delight

Afternoon Delight: ‘No Seasons’ Is A Surreal Look At The Underworld Of Miami’s Art & Music Scene

It’s Thursday. Which means it’s almost Friday. Which means you can probably get away with slacking a bit during your lunch hour. If you’re in need of something short and sweet to watch at your desk, we have you covered with some Afternoon Delight. This week’s pick is from MTV Other (the network’s web series outlet) and Miami-based artist Julian Yuri Rodriguez in No Seasons.

Told through Julian’s enigmatic first-person narrative and dramatized reenactments, the eight-episode web series summons you into the twisted underbelly of the Miami art and music scene. Rapidly told tales of love, loss, near-death experiences, pranks, and pleasure paint a surrealist portrait of what it’s like to live on the literal and figurative edge of society while paving the path for a new sub-subculture that invites eccentric minds to play. No Seasons would feel somewhat disjointed — just one more chronicling of yet another hipster movement, perhaps — if it weren’t for Julian, whose salt of the Earth persona grabs hold of your attention and doesn’t let go until the last few seconds of Episode Eight.

Check out the first episode below and see the rest of No Seasons on MTV Other’s YouTube channel.
